Pinkest Peonies

for Riley Kish

The garden is such a sweet place to be when the peonies are in bloom. The flowers are so big and beautiful, and their heavenly scent perfumes the air. Here in the Northeast, Riley and Bethany are patiently awaiting these lovely blooms. For now, they can wear their pretty peony dresses, and enjoy the other spring flowers in their garden.

Riley’s little bishop dress is made from a very soft quilter’s cotton. It has a pink floral print that reminds me of the bright pink peonies that grace my garden every year. The yoke is hand-embroidered with a bouquet of bullion peonies and purple "lazy daisy" foliage. The sleeve cuffs are elasticized, and the dress fastens in the back with snaps. Riley’s scrunchie headband has a big pretty bow that is embroidered to match the dress. Her ankle strap shoes are hand painted with pink peonies and are worn with white cuffed socks.
