*Dream Armoire*

Made for Bitty Bethany Kish by CarlaC

Dream a little dream...

Bethany's favorite place in the whole wide world is her own beautiful bedroom. It is the ideal setting for playing dress-up, reading stories, and of course, dreaming sweet dreams. I have created this furniture especially for Bethany using my favorite artistic techniques. The whimsical combination of sweet pastels, lovely prints, and rich textures invokes a regal, yet charmingly innocent feel fit for a piquant princess such as Bethany.

Bethany’s Armoire

This one-of-a-kind creation is just the right size (9" w x 3 5/8" d x 12 1/8" h) for holding all of Bethany’s special treasures and accessories. The body of the armoire, which is constructed of wood, has been completely repainted inside and out. The sides are decorated with fun stripes, and the top features a hand painted pink toile bouquet set in a scalloped frame. The door panels are adorned with beautiful pique assiette mosaic. For years, I have been collecting pretty plates, glass, and tiles for "shard art." In this piece, I combined the most feminine vintage and modern china with stained glass and porcelain roses. The focal point of each door is the well-known Royal Doulton "Old Country Rose" motif. The center is surrounded by a swirl of vintage blue tableware pieces rimmed in silver. The "swirly" theme is echoed with waves of candy pink stained glass and bits of dainty floral china. The sweet roses are set within pats of butter yellow tableware. I used a custom-mixed pink grout to fill-in between the "tiles." The doorknobs are hand-painted to look like little rosebuds. As a finishing touch, I framed the doors with dollhouse molding.

The insides of the doors are decoupaged with pretty printed papers. A knob on the inside of the left-hand door is just right for hanging up a special hat. The right-hand door features a mirror at just the right level for Bethany to look at her pretty face. A trinket box decoupaged in toile is included to place on her shelf.

Bethany’s Robe

Nothing makes a girl feel more comfy than a warm, fluffy robe. Bethany’s robe is made from light blue chenille, and is embellished with cute pink chenille flowers. Matching pink chenille slippers will keep her toes warm.
