When Riley visits Grandma’s cottage, her days are filled with outdoor activities - wading at the edge of the lake, picking roses for bouquets, and, of course, picnics. At night, she is always worn out and ready for an early bedtime. Riley gets to sleep in a very special bedroom. The furniture in there belonged to Riley’s mom when she was a little girl. That makes for even sweeter dreams!
Riley’s four poster bed is so cozy and comfy. It is constructed from wood and is base-coated with white paint. The headboard and footboard are adorned with swags of beautiful cottage flowers, which are hand-painted. The edges of the headboard and footboard are trimmed with white and pink cording. The spindle posts are painted white and accented with pink. The painted surfaces are distressed to give a well-loved vintage look. The mattress is made from foam and is covered with white cotton. The dust ruffle is made from white eyelet and is attached to the bed along with the mattress. Mom taught Riley that four-poster beds make great tents!
Riley’s bedding is a combination of charming nostalgic fabrics. The reversible coverlet is made from pink rosebud chenille and pink dotted Swiss. It looks so pretty turned down with her scalloped eyelet sheet peeking out. Her white pillows have fancy old-fashioned pillowcases that are removable. One of the pillow cases is pink gingham with white satin ribbon trim, and the other pillowcase is made from a darling retro floral print. Riley has lots of other pillows on this bed - a pink pillow covered with crochet lace, a round ruffled pillow made of vintage blue and white gingham with embroidered blue cherries, and - last but not least - an eyelet neckroll tied with pretty blue silk ribbons.
