Crib, Bedding, and Jammies
Made for Baby Ellery by CarlaC

Rise and shine, little captain!
The sun is up and it is time to sail into a bright new day!

This solid wood crib was handcrafted by me using my own design.  Lengths of basswood were meticulously cut to size and pieced together for a size that is big enough for Ellery, but takes up a minimum of display space.  The crib is stained a deep red oak and is protected with a coat of varnish.

The headboard and footboard are flanked with decorative molding.  The bedposts have ball finials and feet.  Classic teddy bears decked out in sailor style are handpainted on both the headboard and footboard and surrounded by tiny hand-cut frames.

In keeping with the nautical theme, the crib bedding is made of crisp fabrics such as seersucker, chambray, and poplin in seafaring shades of red, white, and blue.  The coverlet features miniature pieced sailboat quilt squares.  It is backed with white chenille and is tied with knots of red floss.

The pillow-top mattress is covered with a fun starry red fabric.   The crib bumper is made of chambray and is trimmed with red and white whipstiching.

The sides of the crib bumper have white cotton insets with hand embroidered anchor motifs.  The one-piece design allows for easy removal when it comes time to make the bed.

Red and white "ties" are attached to the bed posts.
The seersucker bedskirt is made of blue and white seersucker and  is edged in red and has chambray kickpleats with vintage mother of pearl buttons.

Soft and fun pillows include a seersucker pillow with a flat sham, a navy blue middy-style ribbon striped pillow, and a red and white "lifesaver" with a chenille center.

Also included is a comfy pair of jammies for lounging about.  The bottoms are made from a starry striped cotton print and have an elastic waist that falls just below that cute little tummy.  The light blue top is made from a baby-fine rib knit.  It has a little patch of starry fabric appliqued with blanket stitching.
